Drawing Visualization - Playing with inks and water!

For drawing visualization this week we were told to buy 2 sets of inks that represent water, particularly blue and light green and bring them to class with a pointed size 14 brush. The amount of money we spend on supplies is ridiculous, but I think its well worth it! This was an in class exercise to help us prepare for our comic strip based on the theme of water! I'm having so much fun with it, here's how mine turned out!

Color in Context - Collage Interior

For this project we were supposed to take a picture of a part of our interior in where we lived as if someone was peaking in. This is my room, and I took it from a crack in my door. For the collage we were told to use the 7 colour swatches from our last objects, which worked well as these are the main colours in my interior. It definitely shows which colours I'm attracted to; warm colours.

Color in Context - Object Color Swatches

For color in context class our teacher told us to take a picture of some objects around the house and pick out the 7 main colours we see from it. Then we were told to use these colours for the our collage (our next project)

Drawing Visualization - Still Life Drawing Self Portrait

For Drawing Visualization class we were required to take a photo of the objects we feel express a little bit about our personality and what we like. Then we were told to draw a still life of it using and black medium we want. This is how mine turned out.

Typography - Type Settings Assignment

The teacher wanted us to get familiar with different typographic rules important to Graphic Design and design in general. He gave us a set of tasks that involved us being creative with the way we ordered type using techniques like kerning, tracking, spacing and indenting. As well as the use of serif and sans serif fonts.

Typography - Create Bitmap Font of Full Name

Communication Design Typographic Face

For this particular project we were told to pick an image of whoever we like and create a typographic composition of their face. I chose Drake, singer, actor and rapper because I am in love with his talent. He is one of my favourite stars in the world.

Communication Design Photo Montage

For this project we needed to create a photo montage of found objects that expressed a feeling. My object was arrows so I went around downtown toronto and found arrows anywhere I could. I wanted to evoke a feeling of being lost; not knowing the way.

Communication Design Self Portrait

For this project we were required to take a self portrait of ourselves that expressed a hidden side to us that the public had no idea about. My photograph was based on my self consciousness and that fact that I tend to feel uncomfortable or less attractive without any make up on. For this image I tried to hide the fact that I had no make up on with the shadow as if I did not want to be seen to the public eye.

OCAD UNIVERSITY Communication Design CD Design for song 'Thinking About You' - Frank Ocean

For my Communication design class the task was to design a CD design for one of our favourite songs. I chose the song Thinking About You by Frank Ocean. We were supposed to evoke what the songs melody and lyrics expressed to us through our use of colour, type, illustrations and photos. The song in my opinion mentioned feelings of mourning, heartbreak and sadness. This is why I chose the blue tones. The rain drops   and puddles add to the sadness and the swirls to the lost train of thought one might have when having these emotions.

Kingston University BA Bridging Graphic Design & Photography Portfolio 2010-2011

Finally finished the course, and for my first attempt at graphic design techniques, tools and skills I've heard that I've done pretty well, and I'm not bad for a beginner. The teachers were impressed with a lot of my work, and had mentioned that I was even better than the students who have taken a foundation year. However that chapter in my education has come to a close and I've started fresh as a Graphic Design student at Ontario College of Art and Design University. More work from there to come!
