FINAL ART SHOW: An exhibit of my art pieces over the two years of Visual Arts (Higher Level) in IB. The portfolio shows the many styles, techniques and forms of media which I have experimented with.

MY REFLECTION: Using personal effects (i.e. beaded necklace and pieces of thai silk) to enhance the theme of two cultures (West Indian and Asian) blending into one making me whole. |
OIL PAINTING LANDSCAPE: Based on observations of a local park inspired by the artist Henri Rousseau. Capturing the naivety of Bermuda through plein air art.
MOSAIC: Capturing the abstract qualities of Bermudian flora. The colors and application inspired by Gaudi's work in Parque Güell.
FACE COLLAGE: The image of a woman's face depicts her character. Luminous colors signify female empowerment. Inspired by the Fauvism era.
MIRROR MIRROR SKETCHBOOK PAGES AND FINAL: Experimenting with distorted view points and angles of the face as opposed to frontal views. Inspired by Picasso's Girl Before a Mirror. Sketchbook pages tied in with the preliminary designs for final Mirror Mirror piece, defying the conventional look of make up for women. Is this me? A reflection, a painted surface or one that is made up. Is there more to me than this?
LOVE IN THE CITY SKETCHBOOK PAGE AND FINAL: This double spread sketchbook page captures the theme of Love in The City. Through a busy lifestyle, someone can still find love. Naivety of being young and in love. Love as a paradox; while being grounded on earth, you feel like you are in another world.
FRENCH CLUTCH SKETCHBOOK PAGE AND FINAL: Double sketchbook page was created to help me plan and design a bag. Sketches included measurements, materials and the pattern. Influenced by French high fashion and chic as well as my own personal style. Still portraying my dark and sexual expression of women.
COCA COLA IN 3 WAYS: Experimenting with art forms that represent my Western heritage. Realism, Abstract and Symbolism.
A2 EMOTIONAL BARRIERS SHEET AND FINAL PIECE: Exploring memories and past prejudices which we inherit and work through life to overcome. Through the traditional genre of still life, I continued to investigate the theme of memory, prejudice and identity.
ART OF A DANCER: Inspired by my years of dance and pop artists Warhol and Kitaj. The pain and anxiety about performance and body image.
